At the tail end of last year, the IFA was deeply saddened to hear of the untimely passing of Dunfermline ASFC striker Iain “Biscuits” Cook. Biscuits was a well-known face with our sides north of the border – not only for having played with the Pars for a number of years but for quite possibly scoring against them all too! His tragic passing has left us all heartbroken for not only the boys at Dunfermline, but of course for Iain’s family too. We consider ourselves to be one big “IFA Family” and when that family lost a member so unexpectedly, we were all left devastated.
This camaraderie was at its most evident last weekend as Livi GS played host to Dunfermline. It was the first meeting of the sides since Biscuits passed away and in a gesture which brought a lump to a few throats, the guys at GS presented Dunfermline with a shirt in honor of Iain. Sometimes we all get caught up in the football itself but seeing this exchange and the comments that followed on social media since the weekend has made us all proud of what and who the IFA represents.
Despite the obvious sad circumstances in which the shirt was created, the gesture itself just reinforces what this league is all about. Our thoughts remain with the guys at DASFC as well as all of Iain’s friends and family.
