This year’s IFA Team of the Year is awarded to Claret Shoemakers, representing Northampton Town.
The IFA Team of the Year is one of the most prestigious awards to win within the IFA, having been voted for by the other teams. First introduced in 1998, the award is presented at the end of every IFA season to the team deemed to be the best team to play against in terms of sportsmanship and playing in the spirit intended by the IFA.
The winners are presented with the Peter Fincham Shield during WorldNET. Peter was a leading light with one of our longest serving clubs, Watford IFC. On winning the shield for the third time in 2012, the club were allowed to keep the original and re-name the award after one of it’s own.
Northampton have really impressed a lot of teams this year. They achieved the most “double header” fixtures throughout the league season, which are the core reason as to why our organisation exists, as well as competing in a friendly and positive way, in keeping with the IFA spirit
They have also been involved in a number of community based initiatives, including providing opposition for the Northampton Town FC multi-disabled and Walking Football teams, as well as donating old kit to “Kits 4 Causes” and supporting various local charities.
We look forward to presenting Rob with the shield during our trophy presentations on the Sunday afternoon of Worldnet.
